Ridge View at Blythewood

4/28/2014

By: Karen Willdermood

BLYTHEWOOD—It took only 80 minutes for the Blythewood Bengals to put away the Ridge View Blazers 3-0.  Sophomore Toby Robson pitched a complete-game shutout, giving up only seven hits through the course of Fridaynight.

The Bengals broke the game open early in the bottom of the second.  Barrett Grant drove in the first run on a double to deep left to bring in Ryan Malone who had reached earlier on a single. In the bottom of the third, Tyler Romanik and Andrew Crook, who had reached on a double and single respectively scored Blythewood’s final two runs of the game.

Ridge View gave it a valiant effort, putting themselves in scoring position five times, but Blythewood’s defense was too strong.

Pitcher Marion Brown helped keep the Bengals at bay, giving up two hits and striking out three in his two innings of relief.

The Bengals won their fourth-straight Region IV-AAAA Championship   with Friday’s night win.  But both teams secured a spot in the state playoffs. These games are scheduled to begin May 1st.
