Garrett Chapman to Georgia Southern

Picture
Class of 2013 Infielder Garrett Chapman has committed to Georgia Southern University. Garrett is a product of West Florence High School, a class AAAA power where he played shortstop and was one of the state leaders in batting average and homeruns. He was also a standout for the WFHS football program as a running back. Garrett is a high character individual and student, as well as being a gifted athlete. Coach Nobles commented "Garrett has the right ingredients to excel at the college level and beyond". Congrats to Garrett and his family!

Lark commits to Liberty Flames

Picture
Class of 2014 catcher Ryan Lark out of North Augusta High School has committed to play D1 baseball at Liberty University for Coach Jim Toman  in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lark was one of the standouts on the Combat c/o 2014 team in the summer of 2012, and is ranked as the #1 catcher in the state for the class of 2014, showing off good defensive skills and a 1.8 pop time. Lark was a mainstay in the middle of the order and put up big numbers offensively, including homerun power. Great work ethic and character has paid off. Congratulations to Ryan and the Lark family!

Pruitt chooses Lancers

Picture
2013 RHP Sam Pruitt will continue his playing career after high school with the USC-Lancaster Lancers. He prepped at Marlboro County High and is currently attending Marlboro Academy. Sam is a standout because of his big frame and live fastball which he displayed in the fall of 2012. He works mid eighties and has potential to add even more velocity with his 6'5" frame. "He was flat out dominant at times in the fall, against good competition. He is one I would not be surprised to see hit 90+ in the future with continued hard work and development". Congrats to Sam and his family!

2013 RHP Matt Wallace chooses Bulldogs

Picture
Wallace will continue his baseball career at The Citadel. Matt (aka Bulldog) helped the AC Flora Falcons claim another state title in 2012 with a perfect 9-0 record on the year. Matt is a very smart baseball player and a first class student, and should be a great fit with the  Bulldog program. Matt is one of those guys that is willing to go the extra mile to be the best player he can be, he also showed homerun power during the 2012 summer at Furman University. Congrats to Matt and family!

2013 RHP Andrew Beckwith picks Coastal Carolina

Picture
Class of 2013 RHP/Inf Andrew Beckwith has given his commitment to Coastal Carolina University. Beckwith is a product of Blythewood High School where he led the staff and did not lose a game on the mound for the Bengals in the regular season during his junior campaign. "Beck" has a high baseball IQ and is an exceptional student in the classroom. Very high character individual who is active in the community, and a hard worker on the diamond. Coastal Carolina is getting a true student athlete, and an even better person. Congratulations to Andrew and the Beckwith family!

Class of 2012 Player and Spring Valley Product Hagler commits to Lancers

Picture
Combat 2012 member Heath Hagler chooses to play for Coach Steve Williams at USC-Lancaster. Hagler is an intelligent hitter and is a pleasure to coach. He was a mainstay in the middle of the Combat 2012's order last summer, proving he could hit to all fields and deliver homerun power. He has the intangibles and work ethic to continue his playing career at the next level. USCL is one of the fastest growing junior colleges in the southeast and proved they are a force by jumping in to the top 25 in the country in 2012. Congrats to Heath and his family!

Combat 2012 RHP Addison Hinshaw to Lander University

Picture
Combat RHP and Chapin High product Addison Hinshaw has committed to play for the Lander Bearcats. Addison played with the Combat in the summer of 2011 and scouts quickly took notice, as he showed mid to upper 80's velocity and a plus breaking ball. At times Addison was dominant on the mound, keeping opponents off balance and guessing with his ability to throw his above average fastball and plus breaking ball. Addison is also an exceptional student in the classroom and we wish him continued success. Congratulations to Addison and the Hinshaw family!

Kennard McDowell Chooses Spartanburg Methodist College

Picture
Infielder Kennard McDowell will continue his baseball career at SMC, a traditional junior college power in Spartanburg, SC. McDowell is a Darlington High School product, and shows a lot of promise on the diamond. His frame projects exceptionally well and he has shown the ability to hit for average and occasional power, catching the eyes of many scouts over the summer. He runs well and displays great knowledge for the game. He has that "web gem" potential scouts look for, especially on backhands and has plenty of arm to make any throw in the infield. SMC is known for producing many professional prospects and several major leaguers. Congratulations to Kennard and his family!

2012 OF Brandon Burris is a Pioneer

Picture
Congratulations to 2012 outfielder Brandon Burris on his commitment to Spartanburg Methodist College. Brandon is a Blythewood High product and one of the fastest high school players in the country. His ability to cover ground in the outfield and burn down the base paths allowed him to pick up much attention from college scouts. He proved he could swipe bags in the summer of 2011 when he stole multiple bases on D1 catcher commitments. He is a true leadoff hitter and handles the bat well. He will attend SMC who has a proud baseball tradition and look to continue his success on the diamond. Congratulations to BB and the Burris family!

Combat MIF Tyler Asbill to Winthrop University

Picture
Asbill shows exceptional leadership and ability on the diamond and chooses the Eagles baseball program. Tyler was Mr. Consistency for the Combat 2011 17u team. A product of Ben Lippen High, Tyler showed in the summer that he can hit at the top of the order, make all the plays on the infield, and has speed to burn, running a 6.6 60 yard dash. He showed he can hit and even homer off of D1 pitching prospects. Tyler is an extreme fast twitch athlete on the diamond, able to read and react and showing instincts beyond his years. Not only is he a great player, but just as great of a student, teammate, and person. It is a coaches dream to have nine Tyler Asbill's on one team. Congratulations to Tyler and the Asbill family!

Testimonials
From a father...

I wanted to thank you for working with Tyler and helping him to reach his goal of playing at the next level. The video you produced displaying Tyler’s fielding and hitting ability along with your personal contact with Coach Riginos were instrumental in acquiring an invitation to play for the Winthrop Baseball Team.  I have personally experienced your willingness to become involved in your player’s lives to help them become better baseball players.  There is no substitute for hard work and for those young men that truly have the desire and ability to strive toward playing college ball, you have proven that you can help them obtain an opportunity to reach this dream.

-Brian Asbill (Father of Tyler Asbill, Winthrop University infielder)

From a father...

I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to Carolina Combat for all they have done for Addison and my family.  They not only effectively assessed Addison’s abilities, but also implemented a program to develop his skills for the next level.  The coaches, especially Ryan Ariail and Blaine Walker, worked endlessly with Addison to not only improve his fastball from the low 80s to a consistent upper 80s, but also improved his off speed pitches including a fantastic slider.   Carolina Combat plays in all of the same Showcase tournaments as other teams, but the costs to play are much less.  Carolina Combat further insures all of the recruiters have the necessary information.  It is apparent that this organization has respect of all of the recruiters, which is proven by having every senior commit to a college.  Because of Carolina Combat, Addison has committed to Lander University, which is playing for the Peach Belt Conference championship this weekend. Thanks for leading and guiding us through the complex recruiting process.  We could not have done it without Carolina Combat.

Sincerely,
-Frank Hinshaw  (Father of Addison Hinshaw, Lander University pitcher)

From a player...

I just want to thank you for everything you did for me last summer. From helping me with the mental part of the game to the physical part of the game, you've helped me improve tremendously. The Carolina Combat is a great program to be with and I couldn't have done it without the help of the great coaching you supplied. Great exposure and great people to surround myself with. I would recommend anyone to play with the Combat if you want to play at the next level. Again, thanks for everything!

-Ryan Lark (Went from unranked to #1 ranked catcher in SC for 2014 class after sophomore summer)
